What do you think is the best way to start a story? Do you thinks it's best to start with dialouge? Or with a interesting fact? Or some history? Or some other way? Please explain, I'm really curious as to what catches the reader's attention most effectively.

Well, I start stories in multiple ways. One time, the beginning of the story could show a future part then I would explain it. Another could be asking a question to possibly keep them wondering why I asked them or the whole purpose of the entire thing.

I have a lot of ways. I guess it is just up to you to choose which ones. Razz

I like to start a story semi quickly, like with a person talking. If you start off with explanations about something I don't think you've sucessfully captured a readers attention. Explanations should be donw bit by bit to keep the reader wondering. And if you start explaning everything at once it isn't very interesting...Or at least it isn't usually scratch
But I agree that there can be more than one way to start a story and make it interesting Very Happy Very Happy

Science fiction is a real attention-grabber. People love to see things get blasted with super high-tech equipment and making up the new tech is only half the fun!
