Artemis's escape Empty
PostSubject: Artemis's escape   Artemis's escape EmptyFri Jul 25, 2008 12:53 am

Alright, this was donated by my twin-but-older sister. She doesn't think she'll finish it, so she gave me permission to. ^_^ Enjoy!!

Artemis Fowl strode down the sidewalk, hands deep in his pockets and shoulders slouched. He took shelter under a nearby bus stop roof, scowling. Stupid puberty. Stupid cold. Stupid life. His black hair was plastered to his pale face, only a tight black shirt with a high neck and sleeves protecting his chest from the night. His black jeans half-covered a pair of black VANS, tied tightly to keep them from slipping off. WHSHSHOOO!! A gust of wind blew against his turned back, sending shivers up his spine. Squeezing his crystal-blue eyes shut, he shook his head like a dog to clear away stray raindrops. "Tch." He let out a big breath, watching it appear in a small white cloud, then disappear. His lean form bent as he leaned his head to rest on a nearby telephone box wearily.

After running from Fowl Manor into town, Artemis was exausted. He had been caught kissing their maid, Nicole who was his age of 14, and gotten a huge lecture from his bodyguard Butler. Very frustrated and confused, he collapsed onto the bench to rest. The rain stopped as the grey clouds departed, revealing a shinning moon surrounded by tiny yellow stars. He smiled inspite of himself at it's beauty. No matter what, Ireland's immensely awe-inspiring scenery always seems to lighten my mood. "Oy, you! What're you doin' out here?" Artemis turned his head with curiosity to face a woman with blonde hair and bright green eyes holding a lanturn up to his face and looking very worried. "You could catch you' death ou' here!" Artemis just blinked up at her, "I-I was..." The woman wore a faded green dress with an apron tied around her waist, her straight red hair falling to her shoulders. "I though' so. Come with me, young in'." Stumbling off the bench, the tired teen was lead across the street and into a warm house by his thin wrist.

Artemis's escape Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artemis's escape   Artemis's escape EmptyFri Jul 25, 2008 12:56 am

When Artemis woke the next morning, he gave a start from his unfamiliar surroundings. Sitting bolt-upright in the soft bed he was in, he looked around, his eyes wide with fear. W-Where...? He hung his head. Oh. Right. KNOCK KNOCK! "You awake, young man?" Artemis pushed back the covers, stumbling to the door and opening it silently. The same woman stared back at him from the hall as his blank eyes blinked at her. "Ah. So ye are. What, pray tell, would be your name?" Artemis hesitated. "Aimirgin. Aimirgin Finn." She was exactly his height, only she looked about forty-five or so, so he didn't have to stand up straight to be eye-level with her. "I see," Her green eyes studied him, "And why were you alone at midnight in the center of Dublin?" He choked on his words, plunging him into silence once more. Her expression softened. "Poor dear. Come wih' me. I'll introduce you t' our family." She lead him down the hallway to the kitchen table, stopping him dead in his tracks.
At the head of the table, a big burly man that must've been her husband sat glaring at him. Artemis's bowl-cut hair fell over his eyes as he turned his head away. The woman coaxed him to a chair on the opposite side of the man, sitting him down and walking to stand beside her husband. "Dear, this is Aimirgin Finn. I found him out on the streets last night." The man grunted a hello. Artemis tucked his long, skinny legs under the chair and clasped his hands together, hanging his head again, covering his pale face with soft black hair. The woman walked over to him and patted his shoulder. "Aimirgin? Honey, this is my husband," Artemis smirked inwardly. No suprise there. "Marcus. My daughter is at school right now, but she'll be back at noon." Artemis's smirk faded and he lifted his head. D-Daughter? Oh, no. More women. The woman smiled. "Her name is Loich. Call me Miss Matitiu." Artemis fiddled with this name before finding it's meaning while staring at the ceiling. Beauty, huh?

Artemis's escape Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artemis's escape   Artemis's escape EmptyFri Jul 25, 2008 12:58 am

Miss Matitiu had him doing chores until eight, two hours after he had woken up. Mopping, dusting, clearing away grime from walls, and fetching water. At eight 'o clock, Miss M. shooed him out of the house with a water bottle and a few snacks. "Go, enjoy the rest of the morning, while your still young." He nodded, heading up to the shoreline without argument. These last few years of his private school taught him something. Work hard and keep your mouth shut if you want to keep what is precious to you; We are all just drones dressed in shame and lies. Of course, he knew he wasn't just another drone, but the motto helped him through high school at fourteen. Unfortunatly, the second half of it was true. The lies he had told to Holly and his parents, and the shame of keeping his greatest secret from them ate him away inside every day. He set the pack beside the rock he was sitting on, staring out over the water longingly. Oh how he wished to just fly away from here and never return.
Artemis was vaugely aware that he lay amoungst blades of grass, his head on his pack and his eyes squeezed tightly shut. He didn't know what woke him, but a voice was just audible above the crashing of the waves. "...Aimirgin? You up here?" It was female. And calling for his second name. To let her know he was there, he moaned, opening his eyes to blink up at a lightly tanned face staring down at him with two green eyes. "There you are. It's kinda late, you know." Artemis's heart skipped a beat. Her face was so smooth. So soft. So three inches from his. "I-I..." She was sitting next to him on her knees, and she leaned back to give him some air. "Morning, sleepy head. I'm Loich." Her blonde hair was streaked with brown, past her shoulders and wavy, not a hair out of place. He managed to struggle up from the ground, sitting hunched over his lap. Loich rose, pulling her short black skirt with her. She held out her hand to him, "Come on, lets go."

Artemis's escape Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artemis's escape   Artemis's escape EmptyFri Jul 25, 2008 1:00 am

Artemis followed Lioch like floating on air, gliding weightlessly after her. She had a gracefull way of moving, like just walking could make you forget everything bad in the world just watching her. Loich's hand delivered warmth enough to warm his entire arm as she lead him twords her house. His head felt like he had gotten hit with a boulder, but he gritted his teeth and walked anyway. Artemis had black bags under his eyes and assumed he looked quite demonic right now, since all the village children stared at him like they were petrified. He blinked every time he tripped over a rock of some sort. Man, could this day get any worse? He was trying to get away from females, yet he was in a household with not only one but two. Rubbing his head and stumbling after Loich was making him even more tired then he had been before. God, when was it going to end?

Loich pulled Artemis up to their front door, stopping and taking both of his hands. "Artemis, why are you here?" Artemis blinked. "I..." Loich sighed. "Come now, where are you from?" Artemis swayed in place. "I... forgot..." Loich took his face in her hands. "You look northern Irish to me, but I could be wrong." Artemis felt like the world was going to collapse if he stayed up much longer, and he yawned. "I... think you're right..." Loich gasped. "Oh, I'm sorry, you must be exausted! Come on, lets get you to bed." Artemis's eyes widened. "B-Bed? Here?" Loich nodded, smiling. "Yeah, you can sleep in mine." Artemis moaned internally as she pulled him inside and into her room. I just can't get a break, can I?

Artemis's escape Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artemis's escape   Artemis's escape EmptyFri Jul 25, 2008 1:01 am

Ok, this one is really long.

_____________

Laying half-asleep on the leather livingroom couch, Artemis blinked into the dimly lit room. "Where am I...?" He sat up and winced as his shoulder popped. A black rimmed clock across the room hanging on the wall ticked softly, a few white candles on tables scattered about burned and cast shadows on the white walls and fireplace around the teen. Artemis rubbed his head gingerly and rose to his feet on the wall-to-wall white carpet. He glanced up at the clock, seeing that there were no numbers on it. Midnight? Why am I sleeping here? Oh, well. He leaned sideways on a soft armchair, head in a fog. Maybe they moved me here because Loich needed her bed... Hearing a twig snap outside, he spun around to see the wide window empty. Artemis smoothed the wrinkles out of his turtleneck and strode over to the clear glass, gazing out at the small town and how peaceful it looked lit with streetlamps and car headlights. He leaned his hands on the sill, sighing heavily. It's too bad I can't stay here forever... A face popped up in the window, and Artemis turned his attention to former captain Holly Short staring at him. 'Let me in, Fowl.' The fairy mouthed. Artemis nodded and walked out of the livingroom to the kitchen and cracking the back door. "Come in, miss Short," He whispered. Holly appeared from her sheild, slipping inside. Artemis and Holly stood by the backdoor in silence, until Holly stepped forward. "What are you doing, Fowl? These are innocent citizens, why are you here?" Artemis shook his head, "I don't know, Holly. I haven't the sligtest idea both why I am here," he gestured twords Loich's room, "And why they haven't kicked me out yet." Holly crossed her arms. "You expect me to beleive the smartest and youngest genius in the world doesn't know why he's living with what he normaly would call 'commeners?'" Artemis lowered his gaze to his black jeans and black shoes, "No... I guess not..." he looked up at her as she flew up to his height. "But, really, I just... It was sort of an accident, and I..." Holly blinked, "What in the world...? Artemis, what happened to get you here?" Artemis shrank into a crouch above the floor, pulling his knees together and wrapping his arms about his knees. "I got into a bit of... trouble, at the manor." Holly slid indian-style on the floor, grinning. "Girl trouble?" Artemis's face flushed, but he nodded weakly. "Yes. Our maid was being so nice to me one second, the next we were sitting on my window sill and-" he stopped himself. Holly's smile faded. "And Butler found you?" Artemis nodded once again. "He launched into this long lecture about being careful around girls and such after she had left, and..." he buried his face in his arms. "It was just so... abnormal... for me to just do something on such a small thought like that... I just... Wanted to escape..." Holly's expression softened. "I understand. And how did that make you feel?" Artemis glanced up at her. "Please don't play 'Dr. Phil' with me, Ms. Short." Holly shook her head. "I'm not, Artemis, just tell me." Artemis paused breifly, "Nothing. Now, why are you here?" Holly sighed, rising to her full three-foot height. "Looking for you. When Foaly lost your signal, I was sent to make sure you hadn't been eliminated." Artemis rose as well, "Well, I'm not dead, so I guess that proves that." Holly crossed her arms. "I hate to tell you this, Arty, but you can't stay here anymore. Butler is searching for you everywhere and your parents and brothers are devistated." Artemis swayed in place a bit, "Captain, you don't think I know all those things already?" Holly stared at him. "Then why are you not going home?" Artemis glanced once more at Loich's room, feeling a pang of guilt. "I can't just leave. Not now." Holly spread her arms wide. "Why not? Just leave a note or something and call Butler! Why are you making this harder than it is?" Artemis was at a loss for words, so Holly walked up to him, staring into his blue eyes. "What is the matter with you?" Artemis clenched his fists. "I've never experienced a family like this! Never the care they give me without a second thought, never people who don't care what your going to be when you grow up, or what you think of them. It's just, I never knew there could be people so pure and so poor all at once..." Holly dropped her arm. "I know you've never had this experience, but your family needs you. Now, your family is your family, no matter how you look at it, and family always comes first. Who do you want to be with? Your family, or people who live all the way out here?" Artemis hung his head. "I know. I'm not going to stay, but I can't leave yet." Holly shook her head. "I'll go tell everyone your safe, but you better not do anything stupid, alright?" She lifted off the ground quietly, examining the trembling boy. "Just make the right choice." As Holly flew out into the night, Artemis truged over to the door and closed it, turning back to the livingroom.

Artemis's escape Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artemis's escape   Artemis's escape EmptyFri Jul 25, 2008 1:36 am

The next morning, the sunlight filtering through the window woke Artemis from his restless sleep. He dragged himself upright from the couch with a groan and stood up as Loich walked in wearing a long pink night gown. "Morning, Aimirgin. Sleep okay?" Artemis turned his head to face her, blinking. "Yes..." Loich giggled at his bed-head hair and glided up next to him, using her slender fingers to gently brush his hair back into place. "Want to look through the phone book for your family after chores today? I'm sure they're very worried about you." Artemis glanced in the mirror ontop of the mantlepeice but didn't have the energy to sigh with releif as he noticed the bags under his eyes had vanished. "They might be." Loich's strawberry-sweet smelling hair brushed under his nose and he closed his eyes, feeling her fingers through his hair. "I bet you they are. You look like you would be a good person if you let people understand you." Artemis lowered his gaze. "You think so, huh?" Loich dropped her hands, stepping back to admire her handie work. "For sure. Aimirgin, are you an only child?" Artemis shuffled his feet. "No. Two younger brothers, I think." Loich smiled, making him blush. "I bet they're going to be as handsom as you when they get older. Do they look like you?" Artemis lifted his head to look at her. "A bit," he forced a smile. "Can you... dance?" Loich held up her finger. "Watch this." Tilting her chin up into the air, she swung her arms around so she twirled several times before coming to rest with graceful feet on the carpet. Artemis's smile suddenly became real. "Very nice. Do you know the Waltz?" Loich's smile widened. "Of course." She turned to the small CD player hidden amoung the candles and flicked it to the beggining. "You?" Artemis chuckled from under his bangs. "Backwards and forwards." Loich strode up to him. "Oh, a show-off, are you? Lets see you back up that talk with dance." Artemis took her hands. "Prepare youself, I'm pretty good at this." Loich's green eyes shone. "I'm ready."

Not that it is bad or anything, but Loich seems Mary Sue...

You make her sound too perfect. You give her the name and what she can do. Artemis likes her instantly. And anytime she is around Artemis, he seems to be forgetful and... In some sort of trance.

But, he fell instantly in love. Instantly. Most would say she is too perfect.

He's not instantly in love, just... a guy, lets put it.
*sighs* But, I'll try and fix her, ok? ^_^

_____________________

After chores around the house, Loich went off to the post office with Artemis to find a phone book. The sun hid behind heavy grey clouds, darkening the sky and taking the cheer from the small village. Artemis tugged the sleeves of his black turtle neck down over his hands and hugged himself as the pair waited for a bus into town. Loich noticed him shiver with a frown.

"Are you alright?" Artemis jerked awake and glanced up at her through shaggy bangs.

"Yeah, I just got a chill..." He turned around to see just a small shimmer of light as Holly landed next to one of the quiet houses across the street.

Loich stepped up closer to him, catching his attention by pressing up against his side. "What's wrong, Aimirgin?"

Artemis blushed, turning back to her. "N-Nothing, I just thought I saw a cat..." He was beggining to get nervous.

Loich squinted her eyes at his innocent expression. "You sure?" Artemis nodded quickly. Loich whirled around as the bus pulled up beside them in the road. "Ok, come on, Aimy." Artemis scowled to himself and followed her aboard. Was Holly really going to follow them?

A few minutes and they were in the main part of town, headed to the post office beside the poilce station. Artemis slowed down a bit to search for Holly and swept the plaza with narrowed blue eyes, letting Loich take the lead. He turned in circles, broad, skinny shoulders pushing the air around as he looked amoung the people for his three-foot fairy friend.

Loich stopped and turned to him, waving from a few yards away. "Aimirgin, hey, come on!"

Artemis felt a tap on his shoulder and froze. "Artemis, don't react. Just follow Loich." Artemis obeyed stiffly, walking back to Loich's side. "Why are you here?"

Loich hooked her arm around Artemis's, smiling when his face turned red. "It's right over here." She didn't hear him muttering to a hovering figure behind him.

Holly cuffed his ear to silence him. "Shut it, Foaly assigned me to guard you while you're here, so just walk all nice nice like everything's normal." Artemis huffed. "I am a young adult, Holly, I do not need-" Holly cuffed him again. "Butler does the same thing. Pretend I'm an invisible Butler, ok? Besides, you're alone with a girl. I can't do that to her." Artemis cursed under his breath. His reputation was really ruined now.

Loich lead Artemis up to the steps, blinking when he hid his face to the police officers drinking coffee outside the station. They slid inside the warm building and Artemis was left near the double doors as Loich went up to the desk to get a phonebook. "Come in, Holly," Artemis whispered and Holly slid up behind him. "So, whats she like?" Artemis watched Loich lean on the desk and smile at the worker, smiling absentmindedly. "She likes the same music as I do, and she can dance pretty well." Holly grinned so her sheild shimmered. "You danced with her too? What else did you do?" Artemis shoved his hands into his pockets, face red. "Holly, please." Holly nudged him. "Hey, you've been known to act on a 'small thought' before, I'm not so trusting anymore." Artemis hung his head. "Holly... Please... I don't like being reminded..." Holly leaned on him sideways, crosing her arms. "I know, I'm sorry. It's just, I'm not used to working with such a sensative teenager." Artemis's shoulders slouched. "Huh. Never thought I'd hear that one." Holly frowned. "This is really getting to you, isn't it?" Artemis turned his head to the side so she couldn't see his scowl. Holly patted the side of his leg gently, reminding herself how tall her human had gotten. "Alright, I get it. So, what are you going to do about the book when she looks you up?" Artemis lifted his head slightly. "Tell her the truth and walk home." Holly's eyes widened. "Really? Just like that?" Artemis sighed. "I have to."

Cool, thnx.
____________

Holly shook her head. "Wait, walk home?" Artemis nodded, sighing. "Yes... I couldn't face Butler before the rest of my family..." Holly's ears drooped. "Alright. I'll be with you every step of the way." Artemis smiled down at her. "Thanks, Holly." Loich walked over to them, pulling Artemis down next to her on a bench behind him. "So, Finn, huh?" Artemis gently lifted the book out of her hands. "Loich, theres something I have to tell you." Loich blinked up at him. "Yes, Aimirgin?" Artemis felt another pang of guilt. "I... I'm actually not Aimirgin Finn." Loich crossed her arms, eyeing him. "Oh?" Artemis set the book next to him on the red cushioned seat. "My name is Artemis Fowl the second, and I live in Northern Ireland with my parents and two brothers." Loich dropped her arms to her sides. "Why did you lie?" Artemis felt his spirits drop. "Because I liked being with you and your family. I'm sorry, Loich, but... I have to go home." Loich's eyes filled with tears. "Well, I know that, but why did you lie? We would've let you stay with us!" Artemis hung his head shamefully. "I know, but, I thought since my family was wealthy, you might-" Loich scowled. "Oh, a rich liar?" Artemis looked up at her. "Loich, I thought your family might take it as a joke if I told them." Loich turned away. "In case you haven't noticed, yes we are poor, but we have feelings too," she sniffed. "My mother beleived you. We all did." Artemis let out a defeated breath. "I'm sorry Loich." He rose from the bench and strode to the door, glancing back to see her back turned. "I wish you could understand..." Loich jerked around, but he was already out the door in the streets.

Artemis's escape Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artemis's escape   Artemis's escape EmptySat Jul 26, 2008 7:14 pm

Artemis's black shoes clacked on the empty roads as he pulled a scarf out of his pocket and wrapped it around his neck. Holly shimmered into view striding beside him. "Artemis, I really think you should call Butler." Artemis made sure the black scarf hid his mouth and nose, letting it fly out behind him as he walked. "Why? Walking will be good for me." Holly fell silent as the grey clouds darkening the sky rumbled. Artemis clenched his fists, swinging them at his sides as he picked up speed. They walked in silence until Artemis heard a car coming and they ducked to the left side of the road. "Careful, Holly," he muttered. "the ground is covered in mud." Holly obediently lifted into flight, re-sheilding. The black SUV slowed to a crawl as if it was following them, giving Artemis shivers. Holly scowled at it. "It's watching you." Artemis laughed. "Let them try anything." "Butler isn't here to protect you, Artemis, just me, and I can't be seen." Artemis kicked aside a rock harder then he needed to, sending it flying into the trees lining the country road. "I know." The car pulled up beside him, rolling down the passenger's window. A police officer leaned out as small drops of rain began to fall. "Need a ride, young man?" Artemis kept his eyes straight ahead. "Nope." Holly resisted the urge to cuff his ear. The man smiled. "Where you headed?" Artemis dipped his head down as drops began to fall around him. "North." The officer nodded. "What part?" Artemis turned his head to look at him, stopping and pulling down the scarf. "Dublin." The man gasped. "Hey, your the kid from Fowl Manor, I know you!" Artemis smirked. "That might be," he turned on his heel twords the tree line. "But can you catch me?" The officer shouted to his partner and they both scrambled out of the car as he took off running through the underbrush.

Artemis's escape Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artemis's escape   Artemis's escape EmptySat Jul 26, 2008 7:27 pm

Holly followed her assumed nuts human Artemis through the rain falling through the tree limbs cursing. "Artemis, are you crazy?!" Artemis reached twords her voice and grasped her wrist. "Hang on!" Holly clamped a hand over her mouth to muffle a scream as Artemis leapt up into a tree, hidding in the dense branches with her trailing behind him.

The two officers ran past their tree a few minutes later. Artemis grinned and took Holly around the waist, jumping to the ground with her flicking his ear. He set her down, and she spat at him. "What are you doing?" Artemis motioned twords the SUV. "Getting a ride. You drive?" Holly blinked. "Me drive a human vehical?" She grinned evily. "Once or twice."
Artemis sat strapped into the back of the police van, Holly speeding twords his home of Dublin. "Think you could slow down?" Holly scowled at him. "You wanted a ride, and you got one." They skidded over dead animals as rain battered the outside of the car. A glimmer of light caught Artemis's attention and he reached down to pull out his missing person's report. He smiled. Evidence better left destroyed. With two swift movements, he ripped it up and brushed off his hands. "Alright, get ready to jump!" Artemis laughed as they pulled into his driveway. "Funny, Holly." She pulled the car up to the front steps and sheilded up. "Be good, and try not to get into any more trouble, ok?" Artemis unbuckled and opened the door. "No promises, but thank you for helping me." Holly took something out of her pocket and tossed it at him. Artemis caught the small tracker before it caught on his shoulder. "I know, I know. No more wandering off." Holly waited until Artemis had closed the door behind him and was standing three feet away from the car before darting off back to the woods where the officers had been.

Artemis's escape Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artemis's escape   Artemis's escape EmptySat Jul 26, 2008 7:49 pm

Artemis watched her drive away, sighing. Loich... I'll miss your contagious smile... He turned to the Manor, grasping his elbow with his free hand as rain fell around his skinny form. Lightning flashed and thunder rolled, Artemis trudging up to the front doors to his home. He took the door handle, opening the right door and taking a step inside the warm building. "Who's there?" His father's voice echoed in the empty hallway as Artemis closed the door quietly behind him. Artemis's mother stood in her nightgown at his side, clinging to his suit shoulder. "Is it the police? Have you found my son?" There was a short silence. "Mother? Father?" Artemis choked. The two parents looked at each other and ran to his side, hugging him tightly. "Artemis!" Artemis felt their warmth like never before, smiling into the worried faces as they kissed his pale forehead. Angeline sobbed, "Oh, Artemis! Where were you? You worried your father and me sick!" Artemis the first took Artemis's face in his hands. "My son. Are you alright?" Artemis pulled his scarf off, holding it in his hand as his arm dropped to his side. "I am." Angeline pushed his shaggy bangs out of his crystal blue eyes. "Where did you go?" Artemis lowered his gaze. "I was staying with a friend, in a small town not far from here," he lifted his eyes to glance at his parents. "I'm sorry." The couple hugged him. "We're just glad your safe." Artemis felt his knees begin to shake. It must be midnight, judging how dark it was throughout the mansion. He looked up to the top of the steps to see Butler watching from the banister. The body guard nodded, turning and disappearing up the dark hallway.

Hm... It's different... But I must ask this: since when did Artemis buy those ridiculous (as he put them) machines? Otherwise, he would have been stumbling quite a lot.

You know, treadmills, etc... He says it in the second book. He said that if made it out alive, he was going to buy those machines. But I never read anything about machines yet.

This takes place after the fourth book. Now, what about machines? You mean Artemis the first?

I see...

I mean Artemis Fowl the Second! If you must find it, look in the second book! The part where they are near a train.
